Cruises New Celebrity Silhouette
Celebrity Cruises Celebrity Silhouette Leaves Meyer Weft Shipyard in
Papenburg, Germany
The Port of New York anxiously awaits the arrival of Celebrity Cruises'
newest ship - the Celebrity Silhouette. The Celebrity Silhouette emerged
from Meyer Werft shipyard in early July and after a naming ceremony in
Hamburg, Germany on July 21, 2011, she conducted a brief series of European
cruises.
The Celebrity Silhouette is the first Celebrity Solstice ship to debut from
the Port of New York. The Celebrity Silhouette will spend the entire winter
based out of Cape Liberty (Bayonne) New Jersey sailing 12 day Eastern and
Southern Caribbean cruises.
The Celebrity Silhouette has been getting rave reviews because of a number
of new and unique feature aboard the ship.
The Celebrity Silhouette features private cabanas (known as Alcoves) that
can be rented for the day or the week. Each oceanview cabana can accommodate
up to four people and are designed for relaxation and seclusion. Celebrity
Cruises is charging $99 for a full-day rental on port days and $149 on days
at sea. Alcove amenities include a fruit plate, hand-held fans, chilled
towels, bottled water and all-day use of an iPad loaded with a variety of
music, movies, games and magazines.
The Celebrity Silhouette also feature an Alfresco open air restaurant - the
Lawn Club Grill. The Lawn Club Grill is located in the space formerly
occupied by the glassblowing activity found on other ships of the Solstice
class. The specialty dining experience features steak, chicken or shrimp and
scallop skewers, depending on the guest’s preferences. You can also opt to
grill your own meal if you like. The area does have glass panels and a glass
canopy to protect diners from the wind and elements. In addition there are
heating coils in the ceiling to warm you on chilly nights. Dining at this
venue requires an additional fee of $20 per person (for lunch) and $40
per person for dinner.
The futuristic Cuvee Restaurant is architecturally pleasing and an
artistic masterpiece.
The Celebrity Silhouette has a number of other features including
specialty restaurants, Aqua Spa Staterooms with special spa privileges,
Michael's Club and much more.
